Zeekr 9X in-car user experience

Working closely with interior designers and Chinese stakeholders, I was tasked with creating a holistic user experience in all touchpoints in Zeekr 9X, the latest flagship SUV.

From early sketches and innovative concepts of button layouts and screen positions, to function definition, interaction flows, and iterative prototyping, I ensured that each element aligned with both user needs and project requirements. This involved balancing aesthetic considerations, with ergonomic principles and usability, while also integrating feedback from cross-functional teams to fulfil project needs.

A key part of the project was ensuring that the user experience felt consistent and intuitive for every seat and row in the car, not just for the driver. This meant carefully considering the passenger journey in second and third rows, from climate control access to media interaction, and defining how physical and digital interfaces should complement each other.

I worked on button placements across the cabin, testing different layouts to achieve both ergonomic comfort and design coherence. This involved multiple iterations of mockups and evaluations in seating bucks, where I explored innovative solutions such as multifunctional controls, context-aware shortcuts, and rethinking the relationship between physical buttons and on-screen controls. The goal was to create an experience that felt both premium and effortless, while reducing cognitive load for users in every position.
